Identicam supplied four photo Identification systems to organizers
of the Dalai Lama visit. All 6,100 attendees to the May 1 Interfaith Service were issued colour-coded ID cards with their name and affiliation to indicate their seating and paid attendance for the events. The Interfaith service was by invitation only. Over 900 organizers and members of the press were also issued photo identification cards to ensure only authorized personnel were allowed into restricted areas.
Security measures were tight for the Dalai Lama visit. The main event at the Toronto SkyDome on Sunday April 25, had RCMP, Metro Toronto Police and private security in attendance. There were no bags, no cameras and no recorders allowed. The 12-day event, held from April 24 to May 6, also included prayer sessions, ritual dances and “teachings”.
The Dalai Lama travels with 13 others including Buddhist monks and security personnel. |
